OFFICE TRIP TO CATALONIA - SPAIN

This trip was based on three architectural routes through the Catalonia region in Spain: Ruta RCR, Ruta Miralles and Ruta Romana. Our journey started in Girona and the aim was to visit some buildings designed by RCR architects in Olot, Lira and the Casa Rural in between. The second stop was Barcelona, where the focus was on the work of Enric Miralles and his partners: Carme Pinós and Benedetta Tagliabue. The iconic Santa Catarina Market and the Miralles Foundation were visited. During our stay in Barcelona, we also visited the Archery Center, when we discovered to our frustration that the original building is completely abandoned and has become a ruin. An important work of contemporary architecture like this one in Spain should have had better fate. Fortunately, during our visit to Igualada, we were able to fully enjoy Miralles' masterpiece. The cemetery is a powerful example of his genius. The third and last stop on this trip was Tarragona, where the Ruta Romana took place. The landscape and the ruins of the ancient Roman amphitheater are truly remarkable.
